On 12 June 2018, the contract was signed for the design and execution of building works at Rzeszów Główny station. The development will be carried out under the project called “Improved Technical Condition of the Passenger Infrastructure (including Adaptation to the TSI PRM requirements), Stage 3 Rzeszów Główny”. The total contract value is PLN 205 million. The contract deadline is 34 months.
The consortium composed of Track Tec Construction Sp. z o.o., Intop Warszawa Sp. z o.o., Infrakol Sp. z o.o. Sp. k., and Inżynieria Rzeszów S.A. will execute works concerning the railway surface, substructure, engineering structures, level crossing and overhead catenary system.
The station will receive three higher and more functional platforms, waiting canopies and benches. The train timetable will be displayed on displays and given in the form of voice announcements.
Lifts and escalators will promote circulation in the station with its clear signage. The functional layout will be extended with a new passage under the track.
There are plans to replace tracks, overhead catenary system and railroad traffic control devices.
In Rzeszów, there will be one bridge redeveloped at Batorego Street and three over Aleja Wyzwolenia. The reinforcement and widening of the structure at Batorego Street will offer more efficient and safer circulation of trains. The road traffic will improve significantly. The safety level at the railway line in Rzeszów will be increased greatly by the street redevelopment and the installation of new devices at the level crossing at Marii Konopnickiej Street.
Construction of a new stop, Rzeszów Zachodni, was planned within this development. It will be equipped with canopies, benches, bike stands and passenger information facilities. This will be beneficial for people with limited mobility as there is a lift and ramp planed at the platforms.
